Zero Architects is an Architecture & Design firm that was first established in Madrid in 2005 and which has worked since then for private/public institutions and municipalities from Spain and other countries. Zero Architects has even performed consultancy work for larger Architects/Engineers offices.
Zero Architects strives toward excellence in design. The process with which to achieve this excellence begins with our client. From initial design interviews together with a careful study of project constraints and opportunities, Zero Architects is able to produce innovative design solutions that reflect a professional responsibility toward aesthetics, purpose and cost. The partners and staff at Zero Architects believe that the art of architecture is a pragmatic craft, a blending of client and site requirements with the nature of construction materials and the infinite possibilities of composition. The building must function, as our art is the balance of beauty and purpose.
The firm is managed by two directors, all architects who work on projects, providing the day-to-day guidance for each job, setting the standards for design and management, as well as providing the leadership for the firm. Each with complementary skills, their abilities have proven successful in achieving awards like the 5 EUROPAN prizes (the most prestigious international award for European young architects) and some others within the building and construction industry. They have had their work prominently featured in design periodicals in Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. They have also participated with articles in architecture magazines in Spain and have been involved in several exhibitions, workshops and lectures in Spain, Greece, Holland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The two directors Maximilian Martinenghi and Jesús Mateo combine their proffesional practice with reasearch and teaching at the Architecture School in Madrid.
From 2009 Zero Architects has a new office in the town of Lund,Sweden. The firm has taken the business form of Sole Trader (Enskild Firma) and it is registered at the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket) and at the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket).
